Getting the most out of VoIP with Zultys
Migrating to VoIP often offers the potential to save money on your telecommunications costs, but have you considered the many additional benefits that VoIP can provide?
Telarus started delivering phone system solutions with leading VoIP product provider Zultys back in 2007 and has many Zultys customers now. Recent updates to the Zultys operating system software provide features that many customers are finding particularly useful. As such, Telarus is working with customers to update their software and roll out these capabilities.
One of the more notable features with the latest OS is the ability to integrate your Microsoft Outlook address book with the system. Users can view their Outlook contacts through the address book icon in the MXIE interface (the PC desktop interface for the Zultys platform). When you receive an inbound call, MXIE can then search for matches within your Outlook contact database and present CallerID information such as name, business name and phone number. You can also dial out using contacts from the Outlook contacts database.
The new release also provides a function called "Additive Ringing" which is a great option for call centre environments and busy offices where you want to ensure that your calls are answered in a timely manner. This function is enabled for an Operator or Call Group and allows the phones of additional members of a group to begin ringing on an unanswered call without moving from the current ringing phone. Naturally, by adding more ringing phones, it is more likely that someone is going to answer your call more promptly.
Fax support features have also proven very popular with Telarus customers, providing the capability to send and receive faxes from your desktop. Outgoing faxes delivered through the MX server can also be stamped with the TSID sender information, ensuring that multi-page faxes can be identified if they become separated. The software also now supports the faxing application in the Windows Vista 32-bit operating system.
If you like a personalised approach, you might be interested in the new "Voice Mail Greeting Control" option, which lets you choose which voice mail greeting, will be played to the caller. For example, you can record a voice mail greeting specifically for use when your 'presence' shows that you are in meetings and name the greeting "In a Meeting".
Finally, Zultys is one of the first phone system vendors to implement NAT Traversal for SIP devices. Great for teleworkers, NAT Traversal for SIP provides a direct connection to a phone system without having to setup a VPN connection or use special software. This feature offers cost savings to the organisation and ease of use to the teleworker or in a very small remote branch situation.
